Light the route you actually use
Walk the route after dark before choosing a light. Note turns, furniture edges, doorways, and changes in floor surface. Existing room lighting may already cover part of it; place any new light where a gap remains.
Check the view from low down as well as from standing height. A bright light aimed toward the resting spot can be distracting, while a light hidden behind furniture may leave the floor dark.
Choose the power and sensor
Test the placement
Check the completed route under normal nighttime conditions. Confirm that a motion light turns on before the dog reaches a dark turn, and that its off timer does not leave the route dark too quickly. Keep lights and wiring away from water and chewing access, following the installation instructions.
Pair lighting with a clear route and stable floor covering. See the night setup guide for the rest of the routine.
Amazon products to compare
Place light where the route changes direction or meets an obstacle. Compare a plug-in sensor light with a battery-powered motion light.

Adjustable light at an existing outlet
GE UltraBrite Dimmable LED Night Light
A plug-in LED night light with adjustable brightness and a dusk-to-dawn sensor.
Why compare it: Worth comparing when an available outlet can illuminate the route without adding a cable across the floor.
Before buying: Check outlet position and nearby splashes. Adjust brightness from the dog's walking height, and confirm that furniture does not block the light or sensor.
Battery lighting without a nearby outlet
Mr. Beams MB722 Motion-Sensing Night Light
A battery-powered LED night light that responds to motion. It can be mounted where an outlet-based light would be awkward.
Why compare it: Worth comparing for a short route or turning point without a conveniently placed electrical outlet.
Before buying: Test whether movement at your dog's height triggers it in time. Secure the light and battery compartment, and include battery checks in the household routine.
